Art along the Maas

Art along the Maas

Z33 and RLKM are bringing art to the Limburg Maasvallei area, with Kunst aan de Maas (Art
along the Maas). Between 2022 and 2024, five works of art will appear in Dilsen-Stokkem, Kinrooi, Lanaken, Maaseik, and Maasmechelen. Kunst aan de Maas aims to make visible how the landscape in the Maasvallei area was formed by human and natural forces. The Maas river plays an important part in this, as does the border with the Netherlands, gravel extraction, and location-specific stories and myths are possible themes the artists from home and abroad may use for their works. Some artwork will be temporary, others will be permanent or semi permanent.
The works of art have come about in close collaboration with the artist, the project partners, and the local fabric. Kunst aan de Maas is an initiative of Z33, Huis voor Actuele Kunst,Design & Architectuur (Hasselt) and Regionaal Landschap Kempen & Maasland.
