Nature Reserve De Broeken

The name “Broek” refers to wet marshland and was already used in the 16th century to describe this small nature reserve. It was formed following peat extraction. Peat was popular as fuel in the past.

Nature reserve De Broeken

De Broeken is home to some special vegetation enjoyed by a variety of birds. A bird hide offers birdwatchers the chance to admire several species, including the coot, cuckoo and grey heron. Thanks to a boardwalk you can experience this walk beside and also on the water!
