Surrounded by the Maasvallei area, on the banks of the Oude Maas in Dilsen, is the 1.5-hectare Thilesna wine estate, owned by Johan and Carmen Jacobs-Janssen. It is the place where the sun shines the most and there is also the least precipitation in the Benelux - it is also where they work with love and care every day to grow their wine grapes Pinot Auxerrois, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Riesling to make them into beautiful
high-quality mineral wines. This quality is mainly due to the gravel and grit in the soil
that feeds the vine roots. Their very first wine, the ‘Pinot Auxerrois 2016’, immediately won a silver medal in the Best Belgian Wine 2017 competition. The wine estate is right next to the cycling route network. The gates of the wine estate are located between junctions 48 and 49.
A wine tasting or a guided tour of the estate is available.
